Mr Herman-Jan Meijers

Herman Jan Meijers (1957) is managing director and owner of a multidisciplinary project development, investment  and management company. He studied law and business studies and graduated in International (economic) Relations at theUniversity ofKent, Canterbury (United Kingdom, 1984). He held positions in public (Ministry of Economic Affairs in The Netherlands) and private sector (Dutch and US companies) before moving to Belgium (1995) to become partner in a project management company (1998) which he sold in 1994 to start his second company in international tourism development, investment and management.

In 2000 he started his guest lectures at NHTV on project management practices and project development and planning for both the under graduate and graduate (Masters) programs. He is an external examiner for the ITMC course and has been actively involved in the development of the Tourism Destination Masters Program. His network in the international  tourism sector is wide and varies from tourism HRD, Marketing, to Investment related matters. His field of operation spans over 30 different countries in Europe, Middle-East, Asia andAfrica. Working with and for both public and private sector clients (and the combination of the two) and NGO´s has made him an expert on inter-cultural management issues in the broadest sense of the word. An expert on multi-lateral funding agencies and mechanisms has also provided him with a broad experience project development and project design. His preferred formula is the result-oriented project model, the only one that can guarantee a maximum sustainable result in development. He has also advised several national and international companies on development and project related strategy in the developing economies. Moreover, he is a guest speaker at national and international conferences and seminars on consortium management and project development in the international tourism development context.

Mr Bert van WalbeekBert van Walbeek

He is director of TWE Winning Edge in Bangkok (Thailand). Bert “Bow-Thai” van Walbeek has been an Hotelier for 40 years and Marketer of Tourism for 30 years, a Motivator and a Master of Disaster since 20 years and a lecturer for 15 years. After completing the Hotelschool in The Hague, the first part of his career was accomplished in Europe working in operational and later sales and then marketing positions in Hilton, Inter-Continental, Canadian Pacific and Sheraton Hotels around Europe.

Mr Alwin Zecha

Mr. Alwin Zecha has a broad background of experience in the travel industry. He serves as Founder and Executive Chairman of Pacific Leisure Group with offices throughout Asia.  He has served as Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Pacific Communications Limited of Hong Kong and has held managerial positions with Asia Magazines Ltd., Columbia Pictures Television, Hertz Corporation and Parker Pen Company.

Mr. Zecha also served as President of the Pacific Asia Travel Association for two consecutive terms.  He is former Chairman of PATA’s Marketing Authority, Chairman of PATA’s Industry Council, First Chairman of PATA’s HRD Council and Associate Director, International Marketing Institute.  In addition, he has been the Deputy Chairman of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong and Vice President of the East Asia Travel Association.  Currently, he is World President Emeritus of the International Congress and Convention Association and the only honorary permanent member of PATA’s Board of Directors as well as a PATA Life Member.

Mr. Zecha holds an MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Tufts University
